Hakone 2 Hakone Open Air Museum

We have arrived at the Hakone Open Air Museum

I finally find a locker for my backpack, it has a key, so that’s another thing to keep track of but at least I can give my shoulders a rest. The museum grounds are large, I probably spent far too much time there which dominoes into other issues. There is an exhibit of an artist who worked on a door for the Vatican. It included some of his studies, (posthumously) There are many outdoor sculptures and small buildings with exhibits. A Picasso building which has his work in ceramics, lithographs, glass and a few paintings. I don’t think I ever knew he worked in these other mediums before. There’s a koi pond, with the fish enjoying their own sculptures, little waterfalls. Every corner has been curated into something delightful. The grounds are beautiful, as are the surrounding mountains. Here are just a few photos of my time there.

Back outside the next stop includes another ropeway, but the lines are so crazy, I opt for lunch.

This is the Gora Brewery & Grill

Hands down the best salmon I’ve ever eaten.

The “kitchen” is simple and they turn out beautiful food quickly. The back of the property is a lovely view of a manicured garden.  I’m having a wonderful day. On to the next attraction.
