I looove the yellow leather two piece and the black and white collection is fabulous, so fabulous that I went to Jo Ann Fabrics and bought paisley, flowering georgette in black and white. What inspirational stuff!!!

Well, I was sure it was either Ungaro, Versace, Ana Sui, or Blass, based on the first hints. Since there was no smoking or nudity, it should have been American. But the later hint about what this couture house does to this day eliminated Blass and (I thought) Versace, and the batwing sleeve eliminated Ungaro and Sui. I still searched through hundreds of Versage images online. (I did miss the tiny pictue of the batwing sleeve blouse with skirt on The Fashion Spot forum.) (http://forums.thefashionspot.com/f79/vintage-ads-1980s-fashion-accessories-68882-7.html) Where on earth did those plaid with the Aztec type border pictures come from?
I have an old McCalls pattern for one of the styles, but I'm not at home with my patterns, so I couldn't look it up that way. It's easy to forget that McCalls had some wonderful Italian designer patterns.
I'm glad you all are enjoying the mystery designer!! I'll have another next week. The plaid with Aztec borders was an advertisement in either Harper's Bazaar or Vogue for a NY boutique.
I thought I was the only one scanning these images but it looks like fashionspot has some dedicated fashionistas with more complete collections. Thanks for sharing.
